Test Technician / Laboratory Technician – Electronics / RF
We are currently looking for an experienced Test Technician / Laboratory Technician with a strong background in electronics, soldering and PCB rework to join a highly technical engineering environment within the satellite communications industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on electronics experience who enjoys working with complex hardware, laboratory equipment and advanced PCB assemblies.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Set up and configure laboratory equipment for engineering and verification activities
- Maintain test benches, cables, fixtures and electronic hardware
- Support engineers with hardware installation, troubleshooting and testing
- Perform soldering, PCB rework and component replacement
- Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory and consumables
- Coordinate equipment calibration and preventive maintenance
- Manage stock of cables, connectors, adapters and electronic components
- Assist with purchasing and receiving laboratory equipment and components
- Maintain laboratory procedures, equipment registers and calibration records
- Ensure ESD and laboratory safety procedures are followed

🛠️ Essential Experience
- Strong micro-soldering experience, including 0402/0201 passives under a microscope
- Experience placing and replacing specialised components such as filters, crystals and oscillators
- Advanced IC rework experience with QFN, QFP and BGA packages
- Experience using hot air and under-board preheating techniques
- Diploma or Certificate in Electronics or a related discipline
- Previous experience within an electronics or engineering laboratory
- Strong understanding of electronic components and laboratory equipment
- Ability to assemble, test and troubleshoot electronic hardware
- Knowledge of ESD handling procedures
- Good Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
