Testing Strategy & QA Governance Consultant – Cybersecurity
Location: Sheffield – 3 days per week onsite
Contract: Long-term contract
IR35: Inside IR35
We are looking for an experienced Testing Strategy & QA Governance Consultant to help establish and develop a central Professional Testing Practice within a major banking environment.
This is a strategic, delivery-focused role where you will define and embed a Cyber-wide testing strategy, assess the maturity of existing QA practices and create an actionable improvement roadmap.
Key responsibilities
- Define and deliver the Cyber Testing Strategy, including governance, processes, methodologies, tooling and metrics.
- Develop a QA Maturity Framework and lead assessments across multiple Cyber teams.
- Create a remediation roadmap covering priorities, milestones and ownership.
- Establish QA standards for internally developed and third-party applications.
- Drive the adoption of automated testing, performance testing and stress testing.
- Define audit-ready testing evidence standards, templates and traceability requirements.
- Develop KPIs, OKRs and dashboards to track quality, efficiency and adoption.
- Deliver training and guidance to QA professionals across Cyber.
- Work closely with delivery teams, control owners, risk, compliance and senior stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement across Agile and DevSecOps environments.

Essential experience
- 6+ years of QA and software testing experience.
- 2+ years in a QA Architect, QA Manager, Test Manager or Testing Strategy Lead role.
- Proven experience defining departmental or enterprise-wide testing strategies.
- Strong experience with QA governance and maturity assessment frameworks.
- Experience producing and delivering QA remediation or transformation roadmaps.
- Audit-readiness experience within banking, financial services or another regulated environment.
- Experience working with control owners, risk and compliance teams or internal/external auditors.
- Strong knowledge of testing automation, performance testing and stress testing.
- Understanding of Agile and DevSecOps delivery practices.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence and Git.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and documentation skills.

Desirable experience
- Previous cybersecurity testing experience.
- ISTQB Advanced/Test Manager certification or equivalent.
- Experience implementing testing standards across multiple teams or regions.
- Audit, quality assurance or governance-related qualifications.
