Job Overview:
We are seeking a Manager of Textile Design who thrives at the intersection of aesthetics, fabric development, and execution. In this role, you will own the creative and technical direction of FXI’s mattress cover and textile portfolio, translating brand and design intent into distinctive, manufacturable, and compliant cover programs. You will set the standards for fabric, construction, and finish, and be accountable for the full development of textile designs from concept through commercialization. This position calls for a hands-on innovative leader who balances trend and design sensibility with a rigorous command of materials, testing, cost, and manufacturability. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams across product development, sales, marketing, R&D, sourcing, operations, and quality to ensure our covers not only look and feel right, but are delivered on spec, on cost, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the full textile design cycle for covers—from concept and trend direction through prototyping, approval, and commercial launch.
- Translate consumer insight, brand direction, and competitive analysis into distinctive, market-leading cover designs and material stories.
- Own the outcome that covers meet all key performance criteria—aesthetics and hand-feel, fit, durability, manufacturability, cost, and development timelines.
- Own the textile technical package—fabric specifications, construction and sew standards, patterns, trims, bills of materials, and colorways.
- Drive future vision and cover roadmaps that supports the strategic needs of the mattress category.
- Establish and uphold the material, construction, and quality standards for fabrics and finishes, and qualify the mills and suppliers that support them.
- Be accountable for driving textile testing and compliance—durability, colorfastness, flammability requirements across every cover program.
- Integrate the latest materials, textile technologies, and design trends into the development process.
- Lead the handoff of approved designs to production, and support sales and marketing with samples, sealed standards, and detailed product information.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
