About the Role

You'll be the Senior Project Engineer for Birmingham Interchange station, reporting to the Head of Engineering and Environment for the Interchange project. This is a position with responsibility for engineering delivery across the station structure from design through to construction.

The scheme design for Birmingham Interchange station is being revisited to incorporate design opportunities. You'll pick up leading the revised detailed design phase with a deadline of November 2026. The station sits on the side of the trace with interfacing works including overbridges and connection to an automated people mover system. Structures and civils are the primary technical focus.

Following detailed design, survey works are planned for 2027. Site mobilisation is expected around 2028. You'll be working closely with the construction partner throughout the design and early phases.

Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership – Structures & Civils
    • Take ownership of structures and civils design for the station.
    • Lead the revised detailed design process to meet the November 2026 deadline.
    • Assure compliance with project technical requirements, standards, specifications, and procedures.
    • Discharge duties as NEC3 Supervisor and Principal Designer (CDM Regulations 2015) Representative.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
