Theatre Assistant

Spire Harpenden Hospital | Harpenden | Private Hospital | Operating Theatres

Permanent | Full Time | 37.5 hours per week

Spire Harpenden Hospital is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Theatre Assistant to join our busy Operating Theatre team.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key member of the theatre team, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Nurses and Consultants during surgical procedures.
  • Assisting Scrub Nurses within operating theatres.
  • Supporting patients within the anaesthetic room.
  • Safely transporting patients to and from theatre and wards.
  • Opening sterile packs and preparing equipment for procedures.
  • Preparing, checking and handling surgical instruments.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control.
  • Contributing to a safe, efficient and high-quality theatre environment.
  • Providing reassurance and support to patients throughout their theatre experience.

Who We’re Looking For

We're looking for people who are:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Support Worker or within a hospital setting

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, Care Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous theatre experience (desirable)
