Theatre Manager | Acute Private Hospital

Compass Associates is supporting a leading private healthcare organisation with the appointment of an experienced Theatre Manager at their established Exeter facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced theatre professional with proven leadership and management experience to take responsibility for a busy, multidisciplinary service.

The Role

As Theatre Manager, you will provide strong operational and clinical leadership across a diverse theatre environment, overseeing:

  • 3 operating theatres
  • Cath Lab and Endoscopy services
  • Approximately 50 staff, including 7 direct reports
  • A broad range of specialties including orthopaedics, spinal surgery, cardiology, general surgery, urology, plastics, ENT and gynaecology

You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, safety and operational performance, while supporting the continued development of the service and its people.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing and supporting a multidisciplinary theatre team
  • Managing departmental budgets and resources
  • Supporting clinical governance and patient safety
  • Contributing to business planning and service development
  • Driving operational performance and continuous improvement
  • Working collaboratively with senior clinical and operational stakeholders
  • Creating a positive culture focused on high-quality patient care and team development

About You

We are looking for an established theatre leader who combines strong clinical understanding with proven management experience.

You may be:

  • An experienced Theatre Manager looking for a new challenge.
  • A Deputy/Assistant Theatre Manager ready to take the next step, with established management experience.
  • An experienced ODP or Registered Nurse with significant theatre leadership and management responsibility.

You'll need to demonstrate experience of leading and developing theatre teams, alongside a strong understanding of clinical governance and operational management. Most importantly, you'll be someone who is passionate about theatre services, enjoys developing people and is motivated to lead and improve a high-performing team.
