Job Title: Theatre Practitioner
Location: Edinburgh
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours – 4 out of 7 days
This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. You will be required to cover variable days and weekends to meet business needs.

At Clarity we focus on providing the highest quality patient centric care, participating in the entire pathway for patients from pre-admission, surgery, and post-operative management. We are looking for someone to work with the management team to create and deliver a short, medium, and long-term services strategy.
About The Role
The key responsibilities of the Theatre Practitioner will be to focus on patient centric care, participating in the entire pathways for all patients from pre-admission, surgery, and post-operative management. If you are a registered nurse or operating department practitioner, we can provide training and professional development to benefit your career.
You will be an experienced Theatre Practitioner undertaking preoperative assessment, diagnostics testing, and theatre scrub under AfPP good practice guidance.

Ideally you will have proven experience as a Scrub Practitioner in Ophthalmic theatres, however our clinical education team can provide training and mentorship for your transition into working within our ophthalmic / cataract surgical centres.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Can
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, friends, and families
- Prepare clinical areas for clinical activities daily
- Assist surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care
- Admission and discharge of patients on theatre days
- Participate in departmental audits
- Pro-active and keen to learn and have a passion to deliver quality care
- Have effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Thrives in a team environment
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need
- Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODP’s with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
- Evidence of relevant professional development, clinically, preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration / ODP with valid HCPC Registration
- Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
- Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for delivering first-rate patient safety and care
