Band 5 Theatre Practitioners Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Theatre Practitioners to join our QHB Theatre team including Ophthalmics, ENT, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Dentals and Plastics Theatre team. Applicants need to be registered Operating Department Practitioners or Nurses with an interest in these specialty areas.
About the Role
The post holder will form part of a flexible, multi-skilled team delivering inpatient and day case surgery to both elective and emergency patients, in a unique environment within the acute hospital setting. This role covers a 24/7 service meeting the needs of elective and emergency patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a multidisciplinary team providing high quality, individualized, perioperative patient care in both adult and pediatric theatres.
- Deliver safe, effective perioperative care in either anesthetics or scrub roles or both.
- Ensure safe preparation and use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control within the theatre environment by adhering to aseptic technique and sterile practices at all times.
- Participate in WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and maintain patient safety standards.
- Monitor patient's condition and escalate appropriately including maintaining accurate documentation in line with Trust policies.
- Maintain professional/essential development within the scope of their individual appraisal and according to service needs.
- Support and mentor learners as appropriate.
