University Hospital Lewisham - Theatres
We are seeking dedicated, motivated, qualified professional to join us in University Hospital Lewisham - Theatres. As a key member of the team, you will deliver high standards of perioperative care, and have the ability to support multidisciplinary team to facilitate excellent patient care in the operating theatres.
You must be a Registered Nurse or have an ODP qualification with a proven record within the perioperative. In return for your hard work, we offer well-established, structured mentoring and staff development packages to support you in your role.
Responsibilities
- Accountability and Responsibility: Provide a high standard of patient-focused individualized care, with an evidenced-based practice focus.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the effective running of the theatre/department.
- Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients from admission to discharge using an integrated care pathway (ICP) or the nursing process.
- Assistance in Procedures: Assist anaesthetist/surgeon with emergency/elective procedures in all hospital departments as required.
- Stock Management: Ensure stock levels are adequate for effective perioperative care.
- Documentation: Ensure that written documentation are maintained in line with the NMC & HCPC standards for Records and Record Keeping and Trust policy.
- Emergency Situations: Act safely and develop skills to be effective in emergency situations, e.g., cardiac arrest.
- Professional Practice: Practice within the framework of corporate and local policies.
- Professional Sensitivity: Be professionally sensitive to the needs of patients and colleagues.
- Professional Development: Participate in the development of your Personal Development Plan and identify your own professional, educational, and training needs and goals. Ensure your own continual professional development in line with NMC or HCPC requirements.
