We are currently accepting applications for a Casual Therapeutic Assistant to join our Halifax team!
Summary
Reporting to the Recreation Therapist (Allied Health Lead), the Therapeutic Assistant will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the inter-professional team to carry out the individual’s intervention plan. The therapeutic assistant provides support to the resident and inter-professional team members using therapeutic interventions, facilitation techniques, and participation in leisure/recreation programming in a 1:1 or group setting.
Qualifications
- Diploma from an accredited post-secondary educational institution: 2 year Therapeutic Recreation Diploma

- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral intervention techniques.
- Understands the concepts of working within a care team as an approach to providing resident care.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Understanding and knowledge of ABI, stroke, dementia, and mental health as well as persons living in LTC
- Demonstrated ability to engage residents in therapeutic interventions.
