Therapeutic Education Practitioner
Do you have a background in SEMH, SEBD or ASD? Have you had experience with challenging behaviour? Do you have Team Teach or MAPA training? Have you covered lesson? Experience tutoring or teaching small groups?
This specialist school based in East London is looking for a special needs Therapeutic Education practitioner with experience of working with challenging children and young people. This is a specialist PRU school that caters for young people who have been excluded or at risk of being excluded from a mainstream school.
About the Role
Therapeutic Education practitioners will have the opportunity to work in this outstanding school with an international reputation in special education expertise, curriculum and resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with secondary aged pupils who have SEMD, SEBD troubled behaviour.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum.
- Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils special needs.
- Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists.

Requirements
- Experience working with mental health problems and complex SEN needs.
- Excellent behaviour management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff.
- Ability to teach/cover a range of lessons when needed.
- Good knowledge/experience working with children with SEMH within a Special needs environment.
- Current DBS on the update service.
- Classroom experience.
- Working with primary or secondary.
- Experience teaching a range of subjects.

About the School
This is a full-time/long-term position and will lead to permanent if successful.
