If you're a qualified or almost qualified Therapeutic Radiographer - join the Oxford Radiotherapy Department and be part of a dynamic, supportive team dedicated to delivering compassionate excellence.
As a Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality radiotherapy treatment using advanced techniques like SABR, VMAT, DIBH, TBI and SRS. You'll work with an experienced team in a friendly, welcoming environment where your development and well-being matter.
Patients are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for Radiographers who are dedicated to delivering care with both compassion and respect. Our department is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Varian Halcyons, Varian TrueBeams incl. 6DoF, RGSC and SRS capability, Siemens CT GoSims, and HDR all networked by ARIA. We are a multi-site centre with satellites in Swindon & Milton Keynes - 3 sites, 1 team!

Main duties of the job
- Work as a member of the team of Radiographers covering all sections of the department including mould room, CT scanning, virtual simulation and contouring, delivery of a wide range of both simple and complex treatment and IGRT techniques
- Liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist with the day-to-day organisation of a treatment unit to ensure an efficient service is delivered and workload targets are achieved.
- Supervise, support & teach junior members of staff and students.

Person Specification
Essential
Education & Qualifications
- BSc (Hon) in Radiotherapy
- HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographer
- Awareness of HCPC standard of conduct
Experience
- Recent experience of working clinically within radiotherapy
Knowledge
- Core knowledge of a range of radiotherapy equipment and techniques together with the principles underlying them.
- A general understanding of computerised treatment planning systems.
- Core knowledge of the principles of radiotherapy treatment planning and radiation dosimetry as applied to radiotherapy treatments
- Core knowledge of a range of imaging equipment and principles underlying their use
- Detailed understanding of the disease process of malignant tumours.
- Understanding of Ionising Radiation Regulations and responsibilities relating to own professional practise
- Good anatomical knowledge
Skills & Abilities
- Good technical and manual dexterity skills required to operate sophisticated equipment in a field of rapidly changing technology.
- Ability to work to fine tolerances and understand the importance of accuracy.
- Good communication and team work skills.
- Good patient care with the ability to deliver and receive sensitive information.
Desirable
- Experience in NHS
- Experience of paid employment either full or part time.
- Experience of using Varian equipment including linacs, virtual simulation and Eclipse treatment planning system.
- Knowledge of the department and Trust values and behaviours.
- Awareness of governance and its importance in maintaining safe practise.
- Knowledge of research and trails.
- Knowledge of risk management.
