Therapy Assistant Practitioner Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Assistant Practitioner to work within Front Door Therapy Services at the William Harvey Hospital.
About the Role
The post holder will assist in the assessment, recovery, and discharge of patients across all acute areas within the Emergency Care Department, including our newly expanded Frailty Assessment Unit. This role is an essential part of the on-site Therapy team.
The team comprises Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, and Discharge Managers, who work collaboratively to assess therapy needs and plan safe, effective discharge arrangements for patients admitted through our busy Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the assessment, recovery, and discharge of patients.
- Work across all acute areas within the Emergency Care Department.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to plan safe, effective discharge arrangements.

- Visa Sponsorship: WE CANNOT OFFER VISA SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE. If you hold a Graduate/Post Study work visa, you will only be able to work this role fixed term until the expiry date of your visa.
Role Requirements
As a Band 4 you will work generically, providing high quality care through effective teamwork and will be expected to follow through treatment plans from admission to discharge. The team strives to provide high quality care and think innovatively to improve the service we deliver. As a team member you will assist and support the therapists in the Therapy and Discharge Service team and work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will be expected to carry out initial assessments of patient’s needs and progress treatment plans to facilitate safe discharge from hospital which may involve home visits and close liaison with community support services.

As a therapy team we are constantly involved in service development and the post holder will be involved alongside the therapy team in new projects, service developments and initiatives to ensure best practice at all times.

- Regular in-service training provided by both therapies and other MDT members.
- Opportunity to enroll on the apprenticeship scheme to develop your clinical skills further.
- External training opportunities may also be applied for as appropriate.
