Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner - Surgical Wards

22.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Surgical Physiotherapy Team. The team provides physiotherapy to the surgical wards at James Cook University Hospital and also provide physiotherapy to the post operative assessment unit and head and neck surgery wards.

This post would suit an experienced band 2 or 3 assistant looking to progress to band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner.

The surgical team consists of Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, and Therapy Assistants.

Role Overview:

To undertake highly skilled work, support the physiotherapists in providing an effective and efficient physiotherapy service within the framework of clinical governance.

To work under supervision and independently in order to facilitate effective treatment of patients within the service.

To carry out basic assessments of non-complex patients as delegated by the physiotherapists.

To accept patients delegated by a therapist and be responsible for the delivery of patient care. To use clinical judgement and freedom, within the scope of practice and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from a Registered physiotherapist.

Training and Development:

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills.

You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring Leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3, 5, and 7.
