Role Overview
We are looking for experienced Thermal Calibration Engineers with strong automotive HVAC and climate-control calibration experience. The successful candidates will be responsible for the development, calibration, tuning, validation, and optimisation of vehicle thermal and climate-control systems across vehicle, rig, climatic chamber, and wind-tunnel environments.
The role requires close collaboration with HVAC, thermal systems, controls, software, validation, and vehicle engineering teams to deliver robust climate-control performance across a wide range of operating and environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, tune, and optimise automotive climate-control and thermal-management strategies.
- Perform calibration and optimisation of:
- Cabin temperature control
- Blower control strategies
- Compressor control
- Air distribution and HVAC modes
- Demist and defrost functions
- Seat heating and cooling
- Steering-wheel heating
- Cabin heating and cooling performance
- Conduct vehicle-level HVAC and thermal testing under varying ambient and operating conditions.
- Perform testing and calibration using vehicles, thermal/component rigs, climatic chambers, and wind tunnels.
- Analyse HVAC and thermal-system performance using measured vehicle data.
- Correlate results across simulation, test rigs, climatic chambers, wind tunnels, and physical vehicles.
- Identify performance gaps and determine appropriate calibration changes.
- Perform root-cause analysis for thermal and climate-control issues.
- Support calibration issue investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution throughout vehicle development.
- Develop and maintain calibration datasets, test procedures, test reports, and validation documentation.

Technical Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant automotive thermal/HVAC calibration experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in automotive climate-control calibration.
- INCA experience is mandatory.
- Experience with HVAC control strategies, compressor control, blower calibration, refrigeration-cycle performance, air distribution, demist/defrost, and thermal comfort optimisation.
- Experience with vehicle-level testing, thermal/HVAC rigs, climatic chambers, and wind-tunnel testing.
- Strong data-analysis and calibration skills, including data logging, signal analysis, parameter tuning, and calibration-dataset management.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, CAN tools, or equivalent engineering/data-analysis environments.
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for test-data processing and automation is an advantage.
- Familiarity with CANalyzer/CANoe, CANape, ETAS measurement/calibration tools, vehicle data loggers, CAN/LIN, ECU calibration tools, and data-acquisition systems.

Automotive Knowledge
Candidates should have a strong understanding of:
- Automotive HVAC architecture
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
- Thermal-management systems
- HVAC ECUs and control strategies
- Sensors and actuators
- CAN/LIN communication
- Vehicle electrical/electronic architecture
- ECU calibration methodology
- Automotive V-cycle development
- System-level verification and validation
- Vehicle testing and development processes
Knowledge of EV/Hybrid thermal management and high-voltage vehicle HVAC systems is an advantage.
Education
- Essential: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Automotive Thermal/HVAC Calibration Engineer with strong hands-on vehicle-testing experience and expertise in HVAC control strategies, calibration tools, data analysis, and climatic testing.
Experience with premium/passenger vehicle programmes, EV/Hybrid thermal systems, vehicle climate-control ECUs, and full V-cycle development will be highly advantageous.
