Role Summary
Vertiv are seeking skilled Cooling Engineers within the Southeast region of England to oversee and maintain our cooling systems within our customers data centre facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal equipment performance by way of regular maintenance and repairs and ongoing enhancement activities. The role specifically requires a strong sense of ownership in approaching assigned tasks, essential in this critical infrastructure environment.
Whilst a thorough understanding of thermodynamic principles and electrical circuits are essential, you will be supported by extensive product training within our academy. You will also be supported in the field by a Field Delivery Manager as part of a geographical delivery team.
The position offers an exciting opportunity for professionals with a strong background in mechanical cooling systems, air conditioning, and construction-related tasks to build a career in the constantly expanding and evolving world of critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Maintain cooling systems tailored for data centre environments, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on cooling equipment to minimise downtime and extend lifespan.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues related to air conditioning units, chillers, pumps, and associated infrastructure.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and system diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs and modifications.
- Operate as part of a maintenance team during system upgrades or construction projects, providing technical guidance and oversight.
- Monitor system performance.
- Maintain detailed digital records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications for compliance and future reference.
Qualifications and Skills

- NVQ Level 2 or higher in Refrigeration and Air conditioning, or similar relevant qualification.
- Proven experience in mechanical cooling engineering with a focus on air conditioning and/or data centre cooling solutions.
- Strong knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, and system layouts related to cooling infrastructure.
- Proficiency in equipment repair, troubleshooting complex mechanical and control issues efficiently.
- A commitment to consistently meet or exceed Vertiv policies requirements and standards and always perform with a safety-first mindset.
- This role is ideal for professionals committed to maintaining high standards of operational excellence in critical infrastructure environments with a strong sense of ownership at all times.
