PTC ThingWorx Developer (Senior & Junior)

Industrial IoT (Onsite, Stevenage, UK)

Tech Co is hiring to support the build and operational support of Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions in a compliance-sensitive, client-facing environment. This engagement focuses on delivering reliable ThingWorx applications and industrial connectivity to ensure successful, on-time releases.

Role Summary

We are recruiting two onsite PTC ThingWorx Developers in Stevenage: one Senior and one Junior. You will design, develop, integrate, deploy, and support ThingWorx-based IIoT applications for manufacturing environments, connect industrial devices and data sources via Kepware and protocols such as OPC-UA/MQTT, and provide production support across Dev/QA/Prod. Success in this role is measured primarily by delivering releases on time while maintaining stability, security, and performance.

Work Arrangement, Security & Eligibility

  • Location: Stevenage, UK (onsite)
  • Clearance: Must hold SC clearance or be eligible to obtain SC clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain PTC ThingWorx applications including Mashups, Services, Things, and Thing Templates.
  • Implement scalable IIoT solutions for manufacturing and industrial use cases with reusable components and standardised frameworks.
  • Configure and maintain ThingWorx security including users, groups, roles, and permissions in line with enterprise policies.
  • Build and maintain integrations using REST APIs, SQL, JSON/XML with MES, ERP, Windchill, and other enterprise systems.
  • Configure industrial connectivity via Kepware and protocols such as OPC-UA and MQTT, integrating with PLCs for real-time data ingestion.
  • Provide L1/L2/L3 production support including incident triage, troubleshooting, resolution, and RCA documentation.
  • Monitor, tune, and optimise application performance, stability, and resource utilisation.
  • Manage deployments, releases, upgrades, and environment support across Dev/QA/Prod.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders, provide clear updates, and contribute to best practices and continuous improvement.

Senior Role: Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • 5–8 years of hands-on PTC ThingWorx experience spanning development and production support.
  • Strong Mashup UI development skills and experience building ThingWorx Services and server-side logic.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON, and SQL.
  • Demonstrable experience in production support, performance tuning, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Practical knowledge of ThingWorx security configuration, deployments, and environment management.
  • Experience with Kepware and industrial connectivity including OPC-UA, MQTT, and PLC integrations.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills across integrations and data flows.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • UK resident with SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

Junior Role: Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • Hands-on experience with PTC ThingWorx development (Mashups, basic Services, and configuration) with willingness to learn production support and integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and APIs (REST), plus basic SQL and JSON.
  • Exposure to industrial connectivity concepts (Kepware, OPC-UA, MQTT, PLCs) and eagerness to build deeper capability.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset, attention to detail, and ability to follow operational processes for Dev/QA/Prod support.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively onsite with engineers and stakeholders.
  • UK resident with SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

Nice-to-Have Experience (Either Role)

  • ThingWorx Navigate and Windchill integration experience.
  • Manufacturing/PLM context and familiarity with MES environments.
  • Exposure to PTC DPM/RTPPM/AMU/CWC.
  • Cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS).
  • DevOps practices supporting CI/CD, automated deployments, and environment governance.

  • Releases delivered on time with predictable execution and clear stakeholder communication.
  • Stable, secure ThingWorx applications with reliable industrial data connectivity and performant integrations.
  • Efficient incident response with high-quality troubleshooting, documented RCA, and continuous improvement actions.
