Third in Charge – West Dulwich Day Nursery & Preschool

Salary & Hours
- Starting salary: From £34,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- Hours: Full time (40 hours, Monday to Friday)

Bright Horizons’ West Dulwich Nursery sits in a stunning church setting and offers a nurturing curriculum powered by community. We’re seeking a Third in Charge to join our dedicated team.
The Responsibilities
As Third in Charge, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team to deliver exceptional childcare and education
- Promote child welfare, safety, and safeguarding—including acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead when necessary
- Build strong partnerships with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to meet children’s needs
- Support nurseries to grow, including recruitment efforts and positive parent engagement
- Collaborate with the Local Authority to align nursery practices with broader community needs

Requirements
- A full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
- Previous experience working in a wider Early Years context, ideally as:
- Third in Charge
- Room Leader
- Early Years Educator
- Proven ability to be a confident decision-maker and provide support/leadership
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and EYFS
- Excellent organisational, tactical and collaboration skills
- Adaptable communication approaches suited to both children and parents/carers
