Third Party Risk & Outsourcing Governance Lead

Contract (outside IR35) | Global Insurer | London / Hybrid

A leading global insurer is seeking an experienced Third Party Risk & Outsourcing Governance Lead to strengthen its approach to outsourcing, third-party risk, operational resilience, and AI-enabled supplier arrangements.

Role Overview

Reporting to the COO, UK & Ireland, you will provide governance, oversight, and constructive challenge across the third-party landscape, ensuring arrangements are compliant, well-controlled, and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the UK & Ireland outsourcing and third-party governance framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the outsourcing and third-party inventory, classifications, approvals, reviews, and evidence.
  • Coordinate supplier risk assessments, monitoring, service reviews, attestations, and remediation.
  • Challenge business owners and suppliers on performance, risk, resilience, security, and governance.
  • Support compliance with PRA, FCA, DORA, Central Bank of Ireland, and Group requirements.
  • Coordinate regulatory, audit, and assurance activity.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Information Security, and Operational Resilience teams on third-party and operational resilience risks.
  • Oversee governance of AI use cases and AI-enabled suppliers, including risk assessments and controls.
  • Produce executive-level MI, dashboards, and committee reporting.

About You

  • Significant experience in third-party risk, outsourcing, supplier management, operational risk, technology risk, or compliance, ideally within financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of PRA SS2/21, DORA, and UK & Ireland outsourcing requirements.
  • Experience in supplier due diligence, risk assessment, and ongoing oversight.
  • Experience with AI-enabled third-party services and associated data, privacy, cyber, regulatory, and exit risks.
  • Strong governance, reporting, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Highly organized, pragmatic, and confident providing constructive challenge.

Key Deliverables

  • Strengthen the outsourcing register, governance framework, and monitoring cadence.
  • Establish/refresh the AI use-case and AI supplier inventory.
  • Improve remediation tracking and executive MI.
  • Establish a comprehensive governance calendar.
  • Provide recommendations for the longer-term governance, controls, and tooling model.
