About the role
As a Thumbnail Designer at The Rundown, you’ll be responsible for designing and publishing high-performing thumbnails, titles and descriptions across The Rundown’s video and social channels, including content for our CEO’s personal brand.
Working closely with our media and content teams, you’ll play a key role in shaping how millions of people experience AI news and education through engaging visual storytelling, data-driven creative decisions and consistent brand execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design 2–3 high-performing, A/B tested thumbnails every weekday for The Rundown’s YouTube and social media channels.
- Write engaging, SEO-optimised titles and descriptions that maximise clarity and audience engagement.
- Collaborate with media and content teams to translate stories, scripts and videos into compelling visual content.
- Analyse performance metrics, test creative approaches and iterate designs based on data and audience insights.
- Maintain brand consistency across all visual assets, ensuring alignment with The Rundown’s visual identity and storytelling style.
- Source, edit and enhance images using professional editing and AI tools to produce polished, high-quality creative.
- Manage the publishing workflow by uploading final thumbnails, titles and descriptions, ensuring content is published on schedule.

Skills and experience
- Exceptional eye for design with experience creating high-performing digital content.
- Excellent copywriting skills and English proficiency, with the ability to write compelling titles and descriptions.
- Experience designing and A/B testing YouTube thumbnails for videos achieving 100k+ views.
- Strong understanding of performance analytics with a passion for testing, learning and continuous optimisation.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- Flexibility to occasionally work across different time zones when required.
- Passion for AI and a genuine excitement for making AI knowledge and skills accessible to millions of people worldwide.
- Experience using AI-powered creative tools to enhance design workflows.
