SJC Partners is supporting a growing specialist M&A origination business with the appointment of a TICC Acquisition Search Director.

The business works with private equity investors, PE-backed companies and corporates to identify and engage off-market acquisition targets. Following strong growth and increasing activity across the Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) market, they are looking to add further sector expertise to the team.

Reporting to the Head of TICC Acquisition Search, you will help build out the firm's TICC capability and manage acquisition search mandates for clients.

The key requirement is sector experience. M&A experience is not essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within:

  • Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance
  • Asset integrity
  • Hard facilities management
  • Environmental services
  • Technical and engineering services
  • Building compliance
  • Health, safety and regulatory services
  • Other related outsourced technical services

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You may come from a corporate development, strategy, commercial, business development, operational or M&A background.

The Role

  • Take ownership of client relationships and acquisition search mandates in your sector of expertise, supported by a wider team and research function.
  • Build a pipeline of off-market acquisition targets by positioning clients credibly and compellingly with business owners
  • Lead senior-level conversations with owners and shareholders, including handling challenging questions and objections
  • Use your sector knowledge to assess strategic fit and identify the strongest acquisition opportunities
  • Manage target relationships and maintain momentum through the search process
  • Introduce qualified opportunities that can ultimately lead to completed acquisitions
  • Help grow the firm's TICC practice, while potentially supporting projects in other sectors

About You

  • You must have operated at a senior level within TICC or a closely related sector and be comfortable engaging with boards, investors, founders and business owners.
  • The current Acquisition Search Directors come from senior backgrounds including running their own businesses and holding Corporate Development Director-level roles, so this role is aimed at someone with comparable commercial maturity, credibility and ownership.
  • The role will report into a senior leader who was previously a board-level member of a scaled private equity-backed business, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with someone who has operated within the sector at significant scale.
  • Previous M&A or corporate development experience would be advantageous, but is not required.
