The Opportunity
A Tier 1 Hedge Fund Manager is looking for a Head of Group Reporting directly to the CFO. The firm is well established with a strong record of performance and growth. Its streamlined structure means broad scope and real visibility with the CFO and Executive Committee. You will own the group's reporting across an international, multi-entity, multi-currency business, and lead the modernisation of how that reporting is produced, with technology and process improvement at the centre of the agenda.
What you'll do
- Run the monthly and quarterly consolidation of the group, including intercompany balances and currency translation
- Lead the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for UK and overseas entities under FRS 102 and IFRS, act as the group's authority on accounting policy and technical matters, and manage the audit relationship and timetable
- Ensure regulatory reporting for the group's regulated entities is delivered accurately and on time
- Take charge of the annual budget, the quarterly forecast and the group's cost model
- Produce quarterly management accounts with insightful variance commentary for the CFO and Executive Committee, and oversee the quarterly divisional calculations
- Choose and implement the tools that underpin group reporting, including consolidation and BI platforms, and automate manual processes wherever possible
- Redesign the reporting cycle around clear close calendars, review standards and controls, so the function is less dependent on any one individual
- Lead and develop the Group Reporting team, partnering with finance colleagues in the UK and overseas, Tax and the external auditors

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
