About the Platform

This is one of the largest and longest established alternative asset managers in Europe, with a global platform spanning private equity, credit, infrastructure, and secondaries, and a network of offices across Europe, the US, and Asia. Healthcare is one of the firm's flagship sector verticals, built over multiple fund cycles and multiple economic cycles, with a track record that spans buyouts, growth investments, and structured minority positions across the healthcare value chain.

The healthcare team is not confined to UK deal flow. It underwrites and executes transactions across Western Europe, the Nordics, DACH, and Southern Europe, with the ability to follow founders and management teams into adjacent geographies as businesses scale, including selective transatlantic expansion where a platform's growth thesis supports it.

About the Healthcare Team

The healthcare team is a dedicated, sector first franchise, not a group of generalists who cover healthcare alongside three or four other industries. It is deliberately kept small and senior. Origination, thesis development, execution, and portfolio value creation all sit with the same core group rather than being handed between separate deal and operations functions.

The team's coverage spans four core subsectors:

  • Pharma services, including CDMO, CRO, and outsourced manufacturing and development platforms.
  • MedTech, spanning devices, diagnostics, and connected or software enabled medical technology.
  • Healthcare providers, including specialist clinical networks, care platforms, and physician group consolidation plays.
  • Life sciences tools, covering the instrumentation, reagents, and technology infrastructure that underpin drug discovery and diagnostics.

Deals are mostly sponsor backed carve outs and secondary buyouts, or founder led businesses taking institutional capital for the first time. The team therefore spends as much time on governance, management upgrades, and platform build out as on financial engineering. Buy and build is a core part of the playbook. The deal team stays directly involved in bolt on M&A after close rather than handing it to a separate corporate development function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Because the team is senior heavy, the Vice President sits one step from the partners. They run live processes day to day, own the investment case, and lead the associates beneath them.

The Role

Join as a Vice President and run live transactions from origination through diligence, execution, and portfolio stewardship. You are the day to day lead on each deal, managing and developing the associates on your team. This role is based in the firm's London office.

Responsibilities

  • Run live processes day to day: set the workplan, manage the deal timetable, and act as the main point of contact for sellers, management teams, and advisers.
  • Own the investment case and the model, directing associates on LBO returns, operating forecasts, and downside cases, and taking final responsibility for the numbers that go to committee.
  • Lead due diligence across commercial, financial, legal, and clinical or regulatory advisers, deciding which questions the case really rests on and where the work should go.
  • Write and present investment committee papers, and defend the thesis, valuation, and key risks in front of the committee.
  • Build and own a proprietary origination pipeline in one or two healthcare subsectors, including relationships with founders, management teams, and intermediaries.
  • Serve as board observer or director alongside the portfolio companies' management. Lead value creation planning, equity raises, and bolt on M&A after close.
  • Negotiate key commercial and structuring terms with legal counsel and lenders, with growing autonomy on documentation.
  • Coach, review, and develop associates and analysts, and take part in recruiting for the team.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years on the buy side at a large or upper mid market private equity fund, typically after a top tier investment bank, elite boutique, or strategy consulting firm with genuine healthcare coverage.
  • A track record of closed, sponsor backed transactions where you ran the process day to day, not just supported it. Named deals and values should be easy to evidence.
  • Deep sector conviction across pharma services, MedTech, healthcare providers, or life sciences tools, with the ability to lay out a thesis for why a subsector is attractive, not just a deal list.
  • Experience managing and developing junior team members, and working directly with portfolio company management or boards.
  • Strong technical grounding in LBO modelling, valuation, and financing structures, plus the judgement to know which assumption a case really rests on.
  • Degree from a leading university; a science, pharmacy, or medical background, or an MBA, is viewed favourably. Existing right to work in the UK, or willingness to relocate to London. Additional European languages are an advantage given the pan European coverage.

Why Join

  • Full cycle ownership of deals in a healthcare franchise with genuine depth and a multi cycle track record.
  • A true principal seat, where you lead the process and shape the thesis rather than support someone else's view.
  • A visible path to Principal and Director on a lean team, where contribution is seen directly by the partners.
  • Direct access to senior dealmakers, portfolio company boards, and leadership teams.
  • Competitive base, bonus, and carried interest participation, structured around individual calibre rather than fixed tenure.
