Job Title: Research Associate
We wish to appoint a Research Associate working 37 hours per week to join the Timely Team in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, on a 1-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
The Timely programme is working to deliver digitally supported pathways for early identification and prevention of health problems in children and young people (https://timely.org.uk/). Inclusive of a national data platform to support paediatric research (https://cadre.org.uk/).
As part of this role, you will lead projects that have the potential to significantly improve research and healthcare pathways. You will collaborate with multiple agencies and industry and ultimately make a meaningful impact on children's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects aimed at improving child mental health services, focusing on early identification and support.
- Collaborate with multiple agencies and industry.
- Lead and contribute to Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities.
- Initiate and test methods for engaging Children and Young People (CYP) and parents/guardians in PPIE work relating to the use of administrative data for research, with emphasis on underserved groups.
- Create a Toolkit for PPIE activities.
- Lead on a range of related research activities including:
- Systematic literature reviews
- Stakeholder engagement (i.e., GPs, CYP, and their families)
- Data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, workshops)
- Data analysis (e.g., mixed methods, qualitative, quantitative)
- Co-design activities
- Academic publications

Additional Responsibilities
- Provide regular academic supervision to PhD students, focusing on developing and integrating AI-driven early identification tools into primary care pathways.
- Line manage Research Assistants supporting the wider multidisciplinary CADRE and Timely programmes.
- Lead and contribute to PPIE activities to support critical components of the programme, relating to industry access to data for research, engagement of underrepresented groups, and transparency with the public. This work may include reengaging and managing operations for CA:RING (https://ca-ring.co.uk/).
