About The Role

Eastern Shore Title Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Title Examiner to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough title searches and submitting documents to Maryland land records to be recorded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine Public Records — Conduct comprehensive searches of public records, including deeds, mortgages, judgments, tax records, easements, and other instruments to identify liens, encumbrances, and title defects.
  • Record within Public Records — Apply knowledge of recording requirements while submitting documents to land records via electronic format or in-person Courthouse recording.
  • Communicate with Settlement Coordinators — Collaborate with our Settlement Coordinators to provide timely reports and address title-related questions.
  • Maintain Quality Standards — Review completed title work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay Current — Keep up to date with changes in state statutes, underwriter guidelines, and industry best practices affecting title examination.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in title examination or a closely related role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Qualia title production software
  • Knowledge of Maryland title search standards, recording practices, and real property law
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting public land records, court records, and legal instruments
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • State of Maryland Title Insurance License
