Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Assistant
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Assistant. This permanent, full-time role is based on Oxford Road, Manchester, within the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team in the School of Medical Sciences. It supports student-facing services and activities that enhance the student experience, with on-campus presence required for most of the working week and occasional evening work depending on operational need.
You will be responsible for:
- Acting as a first point of contact for student support and wellbeing queries, providing excellent customer service, accurate information and guidance, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Maintaining a welcoming and responsive presence within student-facing services, including the Student Support Hub.
- Supporting student experience initiatives, including peer mentoring, student engagement, student representative activity, wellbeing activities, societies and events.
- Maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence and documentation, tracking actions and supporting data quality across relevant systems and platforms.
- Providing operational and team support, including room bookings, catering, papers, minutes, meeting administration, ordering goods and services, and liaising with colleagues, students and the Students’ Union.

About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of working with administrative processes.
- Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work in a busy environment.
- A flexible, responsive approach to customer needs, providing information and guidance while maintaining confidentiality.
- Digital literacy, with familiarity with standard IT packages.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of the University’s co-curricular offer, such as peer support or student representatives.
- Experience and/or an interest in supporting and developing the student experience.
- Experience of working in a customer service environment.
- Good numeracy skills, attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
- Experience of working in a team environment and supporting colleagues.
