Job Description
Job Title: Tool Engineer
Working Pattern: Days (9 Day Fortnight)
Working location: Bristol
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tool Engineer to join the Shadow Works team within Defence in Bristol.
As a Tooling Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving tooling and fixtures to support production efficiency, quality, and safety. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver solutions that meet the demands of a high-performance production environment.
What you will be doing:
- Support new product introduction with tooling concepts, development, and validation.
- Track and manage Government owned assets and tooling used within the facility.
- Conduct root cause analysis of tooling-related issues and implement corrective action.
- Oversee calibration control to ensure compliance.
- Support layout improvements within the production environment to enhance workflow, efficiency, and space utilization.
- Management and tracking of lifting-related tooling within the facility.
- Conduct, manage, and control COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and safety risk assessments for the business.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Have a completed recognized Engineering apprenticeship and hold a relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience in tooling control, preferably within the aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering environments.
- An understanding of CAD and/or the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Hands-on approach and ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced environments.
- A proactive problem solver with strong communication and collaborative skills.
- Experience in safety risk assessments and supporting safety compliance standards.
