About the Role

At Jewson, we are looking for a Tool Hire Manager to join our team and take ownership of the day-to-day running of our Tool Hire operation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, leading a team and developing a successful Tool Hire business. You will work closely with the Branch Manager, making sure we deliver a fast, focused and fantastic service while identifying opportunities to grow our Tool Hire sales.

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:30-17:00, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading the day-to-day Tool Hire operation, ensuring it runs efficiently, effectively and safely.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and supporting the team to maximise sales through proactive cross-selling and upselling.
  • Managing, coaching and developing the Tool Hire team, providing regular feedback and helping colleagues build their product knowledge and confidence.
  • Making sure Tool Hire equipment is available, maintained and ready to meet customer requirements.
  • Managing inventory levels and working with the wider branch and local network to maintain product availability.
  • Supporting customer deliveries and collections when required, ensuring equipment is loaded, secured and handled safely.
  • Resolving customer queries, complaints and challenging situations professionally and taking ownership through to resolution.
  • Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider branch team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Leading regular team communications and creating an environment where colleagues feel supported, valued and empowered to succeed.
  • Ensuring all Tool Hire activities meet company policies, procedures and Health & Safety requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience within Tool Hire, equipment hire, builders' merchants or a similar customer-focused environment.
  • Experience of leading, supervising or developing a team.
  • A strong understanding of customer service and the ability to build lasting customer relationships.
  • A commercial mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities to increase sales through cross-selling and upselling.
  • Good knowledge of Tool Hire products and equipment, or the enthusiasm and ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
  • The ability to prioritise and organise a busy operation while maintaining high standards of service and safety.
  • A positive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the branch.
  • The confidence to take ownership, make decisions and resolve customer issues.
  • A commitment to Health & Safety and working in line with company procedures
