Toolmaker
Salary: £45K to £55K plus overtime
Location: West Drayton, Middlesex
Job Type: Permanent
Shift Options:
- Days: 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Afternoons: 3:30pm – 11:00pm
We’re supporting a leading manufacturing business in West Drayton who are looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join their team.
This is a hands-on toolroom position focused on the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of press tools and injection mould tools.
If you have a strong traditional toolmaking background and experience with manual machining, bench fitting and precision tooling, we’d like to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain press tools and injection mould tools
- Diagnose tool damage and complete repairs to return tooling to production
- Carry out bench fitting and precision hand fitting
- Operate manual mills, lathes and surface grinders
- Work from engineering drawings and to tight tolerances
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometres, verniers and gauges
- Carry out preventative tooling maintenance
- Diagnose recurring tooling faults and support improvements
- Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams

About You:
We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous hands-on Toolmaker experience
- Press tool and/or injection mould tool repair experience
- Manual milling, turning and surface grinding experience
- Strong bench fitting skills
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of tool steels and tooling principles
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- An engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification
Experience with hot runner systems, EDM, jig or cylindrical grinding, laser welding, collapsible cores, multi-impression tooling or CNC machining would be advantageous.
