JOB TITLE: Toolmaker
LOCATION: Glasgow
JOB TYPE: Temp - Perm (3 month initial contract)
START DATE: ASAP
About the Role
TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Toolmaker / Workshop Machinist to provide short-term cover within an established engineering workshop in Glasgow.
The role will involve precision machining and toolmaking, working from engineering drawings and to tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual toolroom machinery including lathes, milling machines, vertical borers and surface grinders
- Manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings
- Work to tight tolerances and specifications
- Carry out mechanical fitting and toolmaking duties
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
- Work independently and use initiative
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Follow company quality and health & safety procedures

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Time-served Toolmaker
- Mechanical fitting experience
- Previous toolmaking or machine shop experience
- Strong knowledge of manual machining
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Ability to work independently

- Experience with a range of manual machining equipment
- Previous experience supporting apprentices
