Toolmaker - Bridgwater - £37,000 - £40,000
Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established manufacturer with the recruitment of a Toolmaker to join their engineering team in Bridgwater.
This is a days-based role within a busy manufacturing environment where you'll be responsible for manufacturing, refurbishing and improving precision tooling that supports production across the site. Rather than purely producing components, you'll play a key part in helping the business respond to new products, production challenges and process improvements by delivering high-quality tooling to demanding tolerances.
This is what you'll be doing
- Working within a well-equipped toolroom, you'll be involved in the manufacture, repair and modification of precision tooling using conventional and semi-CNC machine tools.
- Manufacture and refurbish high-precision tooling from engineering drawings
- Modify and improve existing tooling to support production and new product requirements
- Operate conventional and semi-CNC milling and turning equipment
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to solve manufacturing challenges
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and tooling developments across the site

The experience you'll bring to the team
- Previous experience working as a Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or Precision Machinist
- Strong milling and turning experience across conventional and CNC machinery
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and produce tooling to tight tolerances
- Experience in tool manufacture, modification and repair
- A proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
There's also some must haves
- Apprentice-trained Engineer or equivalent time-served background
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Full right to work in the UK
