Yolk Recruitment are exclusively supporting a well-established and growing manufacturer in their search for an experienced Toolmaker to join their South Wales manufacturing operation.
This is an opportunity to join a business with a long-standing reputation for quality, significant recent investment, and genuine plans for future growth. Following investment from an international plastics manufacturing group, the site has expanded considerably, including the creation of a larger, dedicated toolroom facility and ongoing investment across operations.
The business manufactures injection moulded components for a diverse range of industries including automotive, medical, electronics, HVAC and furniture. The variety of tooling on site means no two days are the same.
This is what you will be doing
This is a hands-on Toolmaker position focused on supporting production tooling through:
- Injection mould tool repairs
- Tool servicing and preventative maintenance
- Tool strip-downs and rebuilds
- Tool modifications and improvements
- Manufacturing replacement tooling components
- Diagnosing tooling faults and production issues
- Supporting tool trials and recommissioning activities
- Maintaining tooling records and repair history
- Contributing to continuous improvement activities within the toolroom
- Manufacturing new tooling components from engineering drawings
- Supporting improvements to tooling reliability and performance
- Working across more than 400 mould tools ranging from small technical moulds to tooling exceeding 10 tonnes.
- Supporting and mentoring a developing apprentice Toolmaker

The role offers genuine variety, working across a wide range of injection mould tools used in multiple industries. The environment is organised and quality-focused, with a strong emphasis on solving problems properly rather than constantly firefighting production issues.
The experience you will be bringing to the team
- Time served toolmaker
- Apprenticeship trained
- Injection mould tooling experience preferred
- Candidates from press tool backgrounds will also be considered
- Experience of tool repair, modification and maintenance
- Strong manual machining skills including milling, turning and grinding
- Ability to work from engineering drawings
- Fault finding and problem solving skills
- Experience supporting or mentoring apprentices would be advantageous

- £38,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
