Toolroom Technician

Oldbury
Days Shift
£33,500 per annum

Are you an experienced Toolroom Technician looking for a new opportunity with a well-established manufacturer? We are recruiting for a skilled individual to join a busy engineering team, supporting production through the maintenance, repair and manufacture of precision tooling.
This is a permanent days-based position offering excellent job security, a supportive working environment and the opportunity to further develop your technical skills.

The Role

As a Toolroom Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Manufacturing, maintaining and repairing press and shear tooling.
  • Diagnosing and resolving tooling faults to minimise production downtime.
  • Operating both CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Using surface grinders, milling machines, lathes, wire EDM and other toolroom equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, producing components to tight tolerances.
  • Supporting production by ensuring tooling is maintained to the highest quality standards.
  • Prioritising workloads to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
  • Accurately recording work completed and communicating effectively with the wider engineering team.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Toolroom Technician, Toolmaker or within a precision engineering/toolroom environment.
  • Experience in press and shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault finding.
  • Strong CNC and manual machining skills.
  • Experience with surface grinding, milling, turning, fixturing and wire EDM.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A positive, proactive attitude with excellent communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
