We are looking for a friendly, organised, and customer-focused Tourism Officer with an interest in travel, tourism, destinations, tourism products, and travel planning.
In this role, you will support customers and tourism-related activities by providing information about destinations, tourism products, attractions, accommodation, local experiences, and travel opportunities.
You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of tourism-related products and services, including holiday packages, hotels and accommodation, tourist attractions, cultural experiences, city breaks, outdoor activities, themed travel experiences, seasonal tourism products, and other travel-related services.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy travel, tourism, destination research, customer service, travel information, and learning about different tourism markets, particularly those looking for a flexible remote working arrangement.
π― Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with tourism and travel enquiries and provide relevant information.
- Understand customer interests, preferences, travel dates, budgets, and general requirements.
- Provide information about suitable destinations, tourism products, accommodation, attractions, and travel experiences.
- Research destinations, tourism products, and travel opportunities to provide clear and relevant information.
- Help customers compare different tourism options based on their interests and requirements.
- Support customers throughout the travel information and planning process.
- Prepare and organise destination information, tourism options, and travel recommendations.
- Provide accurate information regarding destinations, accommodation, attractions, activities, tourism products, and travel arrangements.
- Respond to customer questions through appropriate communication channels.
- Follow up with customers regarding tourism enquiries and requested information.
- Assist with booking-related enquiries, changes, amendments, cancellations, and special requests where applicable.
- Maintain accurate and organised customer and tourism-related records.
- Review tourism product and destination information to ensure information provided to customers is accurate and up to date.
- Stay informed about changes to relevant destinations, tourism products, seasonal offers, and travel conditions.
- Communicate with appropriate team members or tourism and travel suppliers when additional information or clarification is required.
- Complete assigned daily tourism-related tasks accurately and within the required timeframe.
π€ Tourism Information & Customer Support
The role focuses on helping customers access useful tourism information while providing a professional and personalised service. Your work may include helping to:
- Understand the individual interests and expectations of different travellers.
- Provide tourism information that matches customer interests and preferences.
- Help customers discover destinations, attractions, and experiences they may not have considered.
- Present tourism and destination information in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
- Provide alternative tourism options when the original choice is unavailable or unsuitable.
- Support customers during different stages of their travel planning process.
- Maintain professional communication and build positive customer relationships.
- Follow up on enquiries and provide additional information when required.
- Support seasonal tourism campaigns and promotional activities where relevant.
- Help customers understand the features and benefits of different tourism products and experiences.

The main focus of this position is to provide useful tourism information, understand customer requirements, support destination research, and help customers discover suitable tourism options. The role combines customer service, tourism knowledge, destination research, travel information, and tourism planning.

Through ongoing participation, you will gain a broader understanding of destinations, tourism products, traveller preferences, tourism markets, tourism trends, and the factors that influence customers when choosing travel and tourism experiences.

Tourism Officers may also support tourism companies by staying informed about new products, destinations, seasonal offers, tourism activities, and relevant promotional initiatives. Your work may include:
- Keeping up to date with new tourism products and destinations.
- Understanding seasonal tourism offers and relevant promotions.
- Introducing suitable tourism products to customers based on their interests.
- Helping customers discover new destinations, attractions, and travel experiences.
- Providing accurate information about promotional tourism products.
- Supporting seasonal tourism campaigns when appropriate.
- Understanding how different tourism products are presented to different customer groups.
- Assisting with the organisation and presentation of tourism-related information.

Previous experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage, but is not essential:
- Travel / Tourism / Hospitality / Customer Service / Marketing / Digital Marketing / E-commerce / Business / Media
