Town of Culture Project Officer

Are you ready to support one of Neath Port Talbot’s most exciting cultural opportunities? Why not join us as our Town of Culture Project Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to support the submission and delivery of the Port Talbot Town of Culture bid, helping the project team to coordinate activity, strengthen partnerships and deliver a high-quality programme in line with agreed governance and funding requirements.

The role will work closely with the Town of Culture Programme Manager, partners, funders, community stakeholders and the wider project delivery team to help keep activities on track and support successful delivery.

Your daily routine will be:

  • Support the Town of Culture project team to compile and deliver the programme in accordance with agreements made with UK Government and local and regional governance structures.
  • Assist with Town of Culture consultation activities involving the NPT Culture Partnership, local communities, stakeholders and partners.
  • Coordinate project team, partner and funder activity by organising meetings, taking minutes and helping to track agreed actions.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, reporting and evaluation systems, ensuring robust and accurate record keeping.
  • Compile and submit financial claims to funders, collating evidence to the agreed standard and within set deadlines.
  • Monitor performance by gathering data, producing statistical reports and advising the Town of Culture Programme Manager and senior officers on progress against targets.
  • Support monitoring and quality assurance processes for contractors and consultants appointed to assist in delivering the Town of Culture bid.
  • Assist the team to ensure the programme is delivered within the agreed delivery profile and to the required quality standard.

About you:

We are looking for an organised, proactive and confident Project Officer with experience in developing projects, working with partners and coordinating a range of people. The successful candidate will be able to support programme delivery, manage meetings and actions, maintain accurate records, assist with consultation activity and ensure monitoring, reporting and financial claim evidence are completed to the required standard. They will be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills, good ICT skills and an interest in culture, arts, heritage, tourism, events and their wider community and economic benefits.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
