The Opportunity
Are you a chartered Town Planner looking to develop your career on some of the UK's most exciting strategic planning, development and infrastructure projects?
We're looking for a Planner or Senior Planner to join our Planning team in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies, working on projects that shape communities, support sustainable growth and deliver lasting positive impact.
You'll work alongside experienced planners and technical specialists across transport, engineering, environmental services, architecture, landscape and sustainability, helping clients navigate the planning process from initial feasibility through to planning consent and delivery.
Whether your experience is in plan making, residential, commercial, mixed-use, infrastructure, regeneration or energy projects, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your expertise while developing your career within a supportive and collaborative team.
About The Role
As a Planner or Senior Planner, you'll play a key role in delivering planning projects across a diverse client portfolio while continuing to build your technical expertise and professional profile.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Preparing and managing planning applications for a wide range of development projects.
- Contributing to strategic planning and plan making projects in the region and nationally.
- Producing planning appraisals, reports, planning statements and supporting documentation.
- Providing planning advice to clients throughout the development process.
- Undertaking policy research and monitoring changes in planning legislation and guidance.
- Managing project programmes and supporting project delivery to agreed timescales and budgets.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple technical disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Building strong relationships with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders.
- Supporting business development activities and contributing to proposals where appropriate.
- For Senior Planners, mentoring junior team members and taking increasing responsibility for project management and client relationships.

About You
We're looking for enthusiastic planners who enjoy problem solving, working collaboratively and building strong client relationships.
You'll Have
- A degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI membership
- Experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or developer environment.
- A good understanding of the UK planning system, plan making and development management process.
- Strong report writing and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in sustainable development.
For Senior Planner applicants, experience independently managing planning applications, developing client relationships and supporting junior colleagues would be advantageous.
