Job Title: Planner / Senior Planner
Location: Cheltenham
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing and ambitious planning consultancy in the appointment of a Planner / Senior Planner to join their team in Cheltenham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated planning professional to join a well-established but compact consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. The consultancy provides specialist planning services across areas including planning and regeneration, research, community engagement, strategy, and policy development.
The team works on a varied range of projects, including large-scale residential and commercial developments, urban extensions, eco towns, rural estates, and other complex development schemes.
The Role

- Assisting senior colleagues with the coordination and preparation of large-scale and complex mixed-use residential and commercial planning applications
- Managing your own projects, including pre-application enquiries, planning applications, Listed Building Consent applications, and planning appeals
- Supporting colleagues on larger strategic planning projects
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Developing your technical planning knowledge and professional experience
- Working closely with senior team members as part of a supportive and collaborative environment
The Ideal Candidate
The Successful Candidate Will Ideally Have
- 2-3 years experience within the planning profession
- A good understanding of the UK planning system
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline, ideally RTPI accredited
- Working towards or having achieved RTPI Chartership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive approach and strong work ethic
- A full UK driving licence
- A genuine desire to develop their career within a small, ambitious, and growing consultancy
