Job Title: Town Planner
Location: Kent
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their fast-paced and friendly team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with 2+ years experience who is looking to develop their career within a consultancy offering a genuinely varied project portfolio across the South of England.
You'll have the opportunity to work across Residential, Education, Strategic and Commercial projects, gaining exposure to a wide range of clients and development proposals.
The Role
Working as part of an established planning team, you'll support and manage a variety of projects while developing your client-facing and project management experience.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing smaller planning projects from inception through to completion
- Supporting medium and large-scale projects alongside senior planning professionals
- Liaising directly with clients, Local Planning Authorities and external consultants
- Attending client and project meetings
- Working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team
- Preparing planning reports, statements and supporting documentation
- Undertaking planning research and providing advice across a range of development projects
- Supporting the delivery of Residential, Education, Strategic and Commercial schemes
- Managing your workload effectively and ensuring deadlines are met
- Developing strong commercial awareness and understanding of the development process
- Contributing to the wider growth and success of the planning team

The Candidate
We're looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Town Planner who enjoys working in a fast-paced consultancy environment and is keen to progress their career.
You'll Ideally Have
- 2+ years experience within town planning
- Working towards MRTPI/RTPI chartership
- Experience within a planning consultancy or relevant planning environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- A commercial mindset and genuine interest in property and development
- Confidence when dealing with clients and professional stakeholders
- A full UK driving licence

Why This Opportunity?
This is a great opportunity for a Town Planner who wants to move away from a narrow project focus and gain exposure to a genuinely diverse range of development projects.
You'll be given the responsibility to run smaller projects independently while working alongside experienced planners on larger schemes, giving you the opportunity to build your technical, commercial and client-facing skills.
