Job Title: Town Planner

Location: Bristol

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary property consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their growing Bristol team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a planner with 2+ years experience who is looking to take the next step in their consultancy career, gain greater project exposure and continue developing their technical and client-facing experience.

The Role

Joining an established planning team, you'll work across a varied portfolio of projects covering Residential, Retail, Healthcare, Automotive and Roadside and Commercial sectors.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting and managing the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals and pre-application enquiries
  • Undertaking planning appraisals and providing planning advice to clients
  • Researching and interpreting planning policy, legislation and local planning matters
  • Preparing planning reports, statements and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, statutory consultees, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Attending site visits, client meetings, project meetings and planning committees where required
  • Supporting planning negotiations and progressing applications through the planning process
  • Providing clear and commercially focused planning advice
  • Managing your own workload and delivering projects within agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining high standards of work in line with internal QA procedures
  • Supporting client relationship management and wider business development activity

The Candidate

We're looking for a motivated planning professional with at least 2 years relevant experience who is keen to progress within a leading consultancy.

You'll Ideally Have

  • 2+ years experience within town planning
  • Previous consultancy or relevant planning experience
  • A degree in Town Planning or a related subject
  • Experience with planning applications, appeals and/or pre-application advice
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach
  • MRTPI status or a clear ambition to work towards chartership
  • A genuine interest in developing your career within planning consultancy
