Job Title: Town Planner

Ref: BM334
Location: Maidstone
Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP37,000

This is an excellent opportunity to join a national town planning consultancy who provide multidisciplined services to high profile projects across the UK. They are on the lookout for a talented and proactive Town Planner to join their Maidstone offices.

Duties For The Role Of Town Planner

  • Assisting with and managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
  • Preparing planning appraisals, reports, statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Undertaking planning research and assessing development opportunities.
  • Providing planning advice to clients and helping to develop effective planning strategies.
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
  • Assisting with pre-application discussions and negotiations with planning authorities.
  • Contributing to land promotion and strategic planning projects where appropriate.
  • Attending meetings and site visits with clients and project teams.
  • Working collaboratively with specialists across planning, transport, design, environmental, viability, and other disciplines.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and helping to deliver commercially focused planning solutions.

Requirements For The Role Of Town Planner

  • RTPI Accredited degree within Town Planning or another related discipline
  • Strong post-qualification experience within a planning consultancy or local authority
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system and current planning policy.
  • Experience of preparing planning applications, reports, or planning assessments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, colleagues, and planning authorities.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • RTPI Chartership or working towards membership would be desirable
