The Opportunity
At Lola Cars, we are building something special.
As one of the most iconic names in motorsport, we design, build, engineer and race world-class race and road cars from our new headquarters at Silverstone, and we need exceptional people behind every part of that journey.
We have a fabulous opportunity for a skilled and highly motivated Trackside IT Support Engineer to join our Formula E team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our trackside and factory-based technology, connectivity and engineering systems operate reliably throughout race and test events. This fast-paced position combines hands-on IT support, network infrastructure and problem-solving within an elite motorsport environment, helping our engineers and operations team perform at their best when every second counts.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide dependable, responsive IT support for the Lola Formula E team at the Silverstone facility and during race and test events. Keep the team’s trackside technology, connectivity, engineering workstations, and event-critical services ready and available so engineers and operations staff can focus on safe, effective vehicle running.
- Deliver first-line and hands-on IT support to engineers, mechanics, drivers, and operational staff at the factory, race events, and tests, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
- Prepare, deploy, configure, and test event IT infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, switches, routers, internet links, cabling, and agreed backup connectivity.
- Set up and support laptops, engineering workstations, displays, printers, docking stations, shared storage, and other user and event equipment.
- Support the IT services and approved software used by engineering and performance groups, including data access, analysis workstations, file services, and collaboration tools.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, account, connectivity, and peripheral issues methodically, prioritising safety-critical and session-critical work during busy event periods.
- Monitor the availability and performance of trackside IT services, identify emerging faults, keep clear incident records, and escalate issues to specialist teams or suppliers when required.
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, endpoint configuration, patching, anti-malware controls, and other security measures in line with Lola policies and approved procedures.
- Help maintain secure and reliable data exchange between the trackside team and the Silverstone facility, coordinating remote support and access with factory colleagues.
- Complete pre-event checks, software and configuration validation, data backups, recovery checks, and readiness documentation; support orderly service restoration when faults occur.
- Coordinate with equipment, network, software, and event-service suppliers to arrange support, resolve faults, and ensure agreed services are available when needed.
- Manage trackside IT equipment, spares, cables, asset records, and packing lists, ensuring equipment is labelled, protected, accounted for, and ready for transport.
- Provide practical support for event communications, meeting-room technology, displays, and audio-visual equipment as required by the team.
- Handle confidential engineering, commercial, personnel, and partner information responsibly, following data-protection, cyber-security, and information-handling requirements.
- Record and communicate planned changes, service interruptions, and workarounds; maintain accurate system and network documentation. Support event pack-down, equipment return, incident reporting, and post-event reviews, capturing lessons that improve reliability and repeatability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
