Role Overview

The Trade Compliance Officer supports the implementation and day-to-day operation of the company’s trade compliance programme, ensuring import and export activities are conducted in accordance with applicable UK, US, EU, and other relevant regulations.

The role will be primarily hybrid, with occasional travel within the UK to our Stoke-on-Trent and Redhill offices as required, along with up to 10% global travel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform denied party, sanctions, embargo, and anti-boycott screening of transactions
  • Review sales orders and determine whether orders can proceed or require escalation
  • Prepare, submit, and manage export licence applications (e.g. SIEL, OGEL, OIEL via SPIRE)
  • Support export classification (UK/EU dual-use, EAR where applicable)
  • Maintain and update tariff (HTS) codes and classification data in internal systems
  • Support visitor screening and approvals for site access
  • Maintain export control records in line with regulatory and company requirements
  • Assist with development and maintenance of compliance procedures and tools
  • Support delivery of training to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with UK and global compliance teams on day-to-day activities

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in trade compliance
  • Working knowledge of UK export controls; US EAR exposure desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
  • Ability to apply regulations in a practical, business-focused manner
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Proficient In

  • Agile (ECO/NCO processes) for engineering and product changes
  • ERP systems (e.g. D365)
  • Screening tools (e.g. OCR, Descartes or similar)

Understanding Of

  • Tariff codes (HTS classification)
  • Export control classifications (ECCN / UK strategic controls)
