Job Title:
Trade Counter Sales Assistant

Reports to:
MD & General Manager

Salary:
Industry competitive - to be agreed

Key Responsibilities:

  • To serve IBT's customers with sector leading service.
  • To deal with enquiries from customers related to all products sold within the branch and liaise closely with manufacturers and suppliers.
  • To help order stock, plan layout and maintain IBT shop area at all times.
  • Deal with administrative tasks arising from the day to day job.

Location:
IBT Building & Timber (Merchants) Ltd, Grangemouth, Central Scotland

Main Duties:

  • Offer a second to none level of service to IBT's customers visiting the branch, handling their enquiries and all aspects of their supply chain.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers and have the ability to maximise a share of their potential material spend.
  • Answer calls and emails efficiently and work with a fast pace.
  • Help to keep a tidy and well stocked shop area within IBT.
  • Continually update your knowledge of products by participating in company and supplier training.
  • Assist with work within other departments as requested to meet customer demands.
  • Participate in company stock takes ensuring an accurate count of all stock.
  • Any other tasks as required to ensure the efficient operation of the department as requested by the Management Team.

Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a Builders / Timber Merchant Trade Counter environment would be preferable and desirable however we are mainly looking for a person with a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard to achieve objectives, is keen to learn, can work well within a team, is looking to progress and someone who cares passionately about customer service.
  • We are also looking for the person to have good computer skills and the ability to work at pace on their own initiative.

Job Prospects:

It is IBT's preference to promote from within whenever the situation arises therefore suitable training will be given to the individual to let them increase and add to their skill base to be ready for any future vacancies that may arise within the business.

Job Type:
Full-time

Hours of Work:
7:45 to 16:45 Monday to Friday and every second Saturday 08:00 to 12:00 (Saturday working will be less between the months of November & March and will equate to roughly 1 Saturday in 3)
