Trade Finance Officer - Fixed Term for 12 months

Job Purpose

To ensure efficient, accurate, and timely performance of work relating to Import, Export, and Guarantee transactions of the trade finance department, and ensure that Compliance policies and procedures are adhered to, protecting the bank at all times from loss or risk.

Export Letter of Credit

  • Check & process all export documentary credit received.
  • Complete Compliance risk assessment for all trade transactions.
  • 1st /2nd check of Letter of Credit Documents
  • Processing of Outward Collection documents
  • Processing settlement of all Export transactions, and claiming reimbursement where necessary
  • Ensure all incoming swift messages pertaining to export documentary credit(s) / amendment(s) / confirmation(s) and correspondences are mapped for input in systems.
  • Ensure all credit approvals / rate and allocations are in place.
  • Preparation of confirmation ticket for approval by credit department.
  • Reconciliation of all liability accounts pertaining to trade and review of all daily due date reports

Discounting / Purchase and MRPA or Export Letter of Credit:

  • Ensure discounting requested of the beneficiary /financial institution is in place.
  • Ensure duly accepted MRPA of both parties (HBL & counter party) involved is in place.
  • Country party signature(s) are duly authenticated through authenticated swift message.
  • Ensure approval is in place for confirmation / discount and Bank exposure limit is in place.
  • Prepare discount ticket ensure approval from credit department is obtained.
  • Ensure respective transaction documents are dispatched to the Bank.

Import Letter of Credit/Guarantees

  • Examine wordings of the guarantee and counter guarantee and obtain approval by credit department
  • Review LC applications and process LC issuance/amendment.
  • 1st /2nd check of Letter of Credit Documents
  • Processing of Inward Collection documents
  • Processing settlement of all Import transactions and arranging Import Finance where required
  • Prepare delivery orders based on customer requests
  • Examine import LC documents and advise discrepancies
  • Process incoming collection documents, acceptance and settlements

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English / Higher Education an advantage
  • Industry trade qualifications: CDCS, CDSG, CITF an advantage

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years Trade and Documentary Credit Experience
  • Strong LC Document checking experience required
  • Experience of Commodity Trade Finance would be an advantage
  • Experience of Transactional lending type of facilities, collateral monitoring: receipt and cross-check of inspection reports;
  • Strong trade compliance experience: screening of parties, goods, monitoring vessel location, journey, ETAs at destination;
  • Responsible for monitoring collections under sales invoices
  • Strong communication skills as well as the ability to build rapport with internal & external customers
  • Time Management. Multi-tasking and Planning skills are essentials
  • Team player with the ability to deliver projects and to work within integrated, multi-disciplinary team
  • Assertive, resilient to setbacks and goal focused
  • Strong MS Office Skills. Good level of Excel skills an advantage
  • Experience of Fusion Trade Innovations system would be an advantage

Please note this role requires being in the office 5 days a week.
