About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a bright and ambitious Trade Mark Attorney to join Dentons Helix, a dedicated team supporting one of the UK’s most iconic media brands. This role will involve innovative, dynamic, and impactful work in managing a global trade mark portfolio, offering greater working certainty and the chance to build a deeper partnership with the client’s in-house legal team.

Dentons Helix transforms in-house legal teams through cost certainty, risk reduction, and data-driven strategy. The team combines legal, technological, and operational expertise to redefine best practice in legal service delivery.

Our client has entrusted Dentons to manage their full trade mark portfolio, seeking a long-term legal partner. Given the client’s vast business scope and commitment to innovation, the role will be varied, challenging, and engaging.

The Team

Our dedicated team will collaborate with:

  • The UK IP team (for broader expertise and support)
  • The client’s in-house legal function (for deep business integration)

This structure provides flexibility, structured working hours, and alternative growth opportunities beyond traditional paralegal roles in the legal space.


Understanding the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trade Mark Attorney to collaboratively manage our client’s intellectual property (IP) assets. The spectrum of responsibilities includes protecting, developing, and optimising their trade mark portfolio globally.

Key Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications

Core Requirements

  • Qualification & Licensing: Must be a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong UK/EU/International trade mark law knowledge
    • Proficient in trade mark searches, clearing, and watch reporting
    • Experience with global trade mark portfolios (multi-jurisdictional filings & registrations)
    • Strategic competency in filing/managing trade mark and design applications, including liaising with national agents worldwide
    • Opposition strategy, handling revocation & cancellation actions
  • Dispute Resolution & Negotiation:
    • Interparty dispute handling before trade mark registries
    • Supervision of overseas dispute resolution with foreign associates
    • Drafting & negotiating settlement agreements
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Requires analytical precision, exceptional written & verbal comms skills
