The opportunity
Our client, a well-regarded intellectual property firm, is looking for a Trade Mark Paralegal (or experienced Trade Mark Secretary) to join its growing London trade mark team.
You will support a group of fee-earners across a broad mix of trade mark and wider IP work, both contentious and non-contentious. The team is friendly, collaborative and high-performing, and this is a role where a reliable, proactive paralegal is genuinely valued.
What you will be doing
- Preparing and filing trade mark applications and standard forms at the UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO.
- Communicating with trade mark offices and reporting to clients under fee-earner supervision.
- Sending standard reports and correspondence to clients, and managing incoming communications.
- Managing fee-earner diaries and monitoring due dates so that deadlines are met.
- Compiling physical and electronic evidence and bundles for tribunal and court proceedings.
- Maintaining electronic files using the firm’s document management system.
- Billing and invoicing for fee-earner work.
- Handling calls on fee-earners’ behalf, gathering and passing on information.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
