Associate / Senior Associate – Trade Surveillance Business Analyst
Location: London
Working Pattern: 5 days per week on-site at client location

Salary: £70,000 - £100,000
Our client is a specialist global consulting organisation supporting major financial institutions across capital markets, regulatory compliance, and financial technology. You’ll join a long-term engagement with a leading financial services organisation, gaining hands-on exposure to complex trade surveillance programmes and regulatory technology. This opportunity suits someone who can combine detailed investigation with strong business analysis, working confidently across Compliance, Trading, Operations, Risk, and Technology. You’ll have scope to deepen your market abuse expertise while broadening your capabilities across surveillance operations, requirements, testing, data analysis, and solution delivery.
Role Highlights:
- Investigate and disposition surveillance alerts covering market abuse scenarios including insider dealing, spoofing, layering, wash trading, and front running.
- Analyse trade and order activity across asset classes, identifying root causes and escalating cases where appropriate.
- Support STOR preparation, regulatory reporting, scenario tuning, calibration, and false-positive reduction.
- Translate business needs into requirements, process maps, gap analysis, BRDs/FRDs, and user stories.
- Support SIT, UAT, defect management, production readiness, governance reporting, and wider SDLC activity.

You Will Need:
- Hands-on experience investigating trade surveillance alerts and progressing cases through to disposition.
- Experience with platforms such as NICE Actimize, NASDAQ SMARTS, Scila, or comparable surveillance technology.
- Knowledge of UK MAR, FCA requirements, and STOR processes, with awareness of MiFID II and EMIR / UK EMIR.
- Understanding of trade lifecycles across areas such as Equities, Fixed Income, and OTC Derivatives.
- Strong business analysis, data analysis, and stakeholder management skills, with technical exposure to tools such as SQL, Python, Q, Excel, or Power BI beneficial.
