IPC Unigy / Trader Voice Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Trader Voice Engineer to join our technical support and engineering team. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IPC Unigy, supporting and maintaining trader voice environments within financial services organisations. The role will involve providing technical support, incident management, system administration, engineering and project services across a range of Trader Voice, turret and voice recording technologies.

Experience with BT Trade is highly desirable, and experience with Cloud9 would be an advantage. The role will suit an engineer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced financial services environment and who understands the importance of maintaining highly available communications systems used by traders, brokers and other front-office users.

Key Responsibilities

IPC Unigy

  • Provide Level 1–3 technical support for IPC Unigy environments.
  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot IPC Unigy infrastructure.
  • Support IQ/MAX, IQ/Touch and other IPC turret platforms.
  • Diagnose issues affecting trader turrets, voice services, connectivity and backend infrastructure.
  • Perform system health checks and proactive monitoring.
  • Manage incidents through to resolution, including escalation to IPC where required.
  • Support Unigy software upgrades, patches and configuration changes.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis across the Unigy platform and associated network infrastructure.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of new users, turrets and services.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records and asset information.
  • Provide technical input into customer projects, migrations and system upgrades.

Trader Voice

  • Support Trader Voice environments within banks, brokers, asset managers and other financial institutions.
  • Troubleshoot voice quality, signalling, connectivity and service availability issues.
  • Support trader turret configuration, line provisioning and user moves/adds/changes.
  • Work with network, voice and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve complex faults.
  • Liaise directly with customers and third-party vendors during incidents and projects.
  • Participate in out-of-hours support and on-call arrangements where required.

BT Trade

Experience with BT Trade is highly desirable. The successful candidate may be required to:

  • Support BT Trade trader voice environments.
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot BT Trade turret equipment and associated infrastructure.
  • Diagnose connectivity and voice service issues.
  • Support user and turret configuration changes.
  • Assist with migrations between BT Trade and other Trader Voice platforms.
  • Provide technical support to customers operating BT Trade estates.

Cloud9

Experience with Cloud9 is desirable but not essential. Knowledge or experience of Cloud9 may include:

  • Cloud9 trader communication platforms.
  • Cloud9 user and device configuration.
  • Voice and data connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting Cloud9 services within financial trading environments.
  • Integration with wider Trader Voice and communications environments.

Additional Technology Experience

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Speakerbus
  • NICE NTR / NTR-X
  • Uniphore
  • Etrali Opentrade
  • Redbox
  • COMITFS
  • AudioCodes
  • SIP and VoIP technologies
  • Microsoft Windows Server
  • Linux
  • VMware / virtualisation
  • Networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and firewalls
  • SQL databases
  • Active Directory
  • Monitoring and alerting platforms
  • ITIL-based service management Experience integrating Trader Voice platforms with compliance recording and regulatory recording systems would also be highly beneficial.

Key Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven commercial experience supporting IPC Unigy.
  • Good understanding of Trader Voice environments.
  • Experience supporting financial services customers, ideally banks, brokers, asset managers or trading organisations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to diagnose complex hardware, software, network and voice-related problems.
  • Experience working within an IT service management / ticketing environment.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call / out-of-hours support rota.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and incident reports.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites where required.

Desirable:

  • BT Trade experience.
  • Cloud9 experience.
  • IPC Unigy certification or formal IPC training.
  • Experience with Speakerbus Trader Voice.
  • Experience with NICE NTR/NTR-X or other compliance recording platforms.
  • Experience with Etrali Opentrade.
  • Experience supporting global Trader Voice estates.
  • Experience with financial market communications and regulatory recording requirements.
  • Experience of working with third-party vendors and manufacturers.
  • ITIL qualification or equivalent service management experience.
