Trading Manager

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Trading Manager to join our Buy-Side Trading Solutions Team. This role is located in London.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Manage all aspects of executing complex order flow, in support of BNY’s buy-side clients and in accordance with our best execution procedures.
  • Ensure client orders are executed in an efficient, timely, cost-effective manner, and in line with trade instructions. Work closely with peers in middle office and with counterparties to ensure efficient and accurate booking of trades.
  • Collaborate with the investment team, trade support, quantitative research and engineering teams to evolve trading practices and ensure efficient implementation of investment decisions.
  • Maintain and develop constructive relationships with clients, vendors and counterparties in a bid to constantly improve our processes.

Dealing Responsibilities

  • As a senior member of the dealing team, perform dealing activities in support of a multi-asset book of business.
  • Responsible for ensuring that investment objectives and constraints are considered when devising execution strategy.
  • Monitor quality of execution in real time and manage risk of execution through trade completion.
  • Grow and maintain relationships with broker-dealers.
  • Continuously review, update, consolidate and distribute activity reports and dashboards to various stakeholders.
  • Leverage existing relationships with consultants / benchmark vendors to increase the breadth and depth of relevant benchmarking data regarding brokerage practices, commission usage and order handling practices, while identifying and developing new sources of relevant data and insight.
  • Regularly meet client stakeholders, present to client governance committees, and attend due diligence meetings

Management Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of trading professionals who support a range of client stakeholders, such as Portfolio Managers, Client Service and Compliance.
  • Originate inventive trading solutions, rooted in technology and quant research.
  • Develop detailed business requirements and work closely with Project Management and Technology teams to map the requirements to technical specifications and drive the implementation.
  • Facilitate the analysis of client and business needs and manage related documentation. Guide the team's production of management reporting and analyses.
  • Establish and document operating procedures in support of daily trading activities.
  • Explain trading and technical concepts and analyses to non-trading, non-technical audiences. Deliver reports and presentations to senior leaders.
  • Be a leader in market structure globally and across all asset classes.
  • Recruit, direct, motivate and develop staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth, and ability to function effectively with colleagues as a team.
  • Produce and distribute quarterly client reports, and quarterly and annual board reports on commission activity, research consumption, counterparty use, broker/dealer performance and related trends.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory regimes regarding client commission usage across all relevant global markets.
  • Implement, oversee, and report on client-directed commission requests, while ensuring compliance with strategy-based target percentage guidelines.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

Technical:

  • Deep practical experience with Institutional Trading, TCA, Commission Management and Regulation.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully reporting across asset classes, globally.
  • Extensive relevant professional experience in a reporting or analytical function.
  • Expertise in dealing with large data sets and strong problem-solving skills is essential.
  • Experience in dealing across equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and derivatives markets.

Leadership:

  • A proven strategic thinker, able to translate and disseminate business strategy into the dealing function, creating a clear and aligned dealing-specific strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience of successful team management, including:
    • Creating and sustaining a high performing team.
    • Positive outcomes of collaborative engagement in career development activities, succession planning, performance management etc.
  • Strong adaptable communication style:
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members across all levels of the business.
    • Experienced presenter with the ability to effectively deliver findings and technical information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Solution oriented, ability to anticipate issues, proactively course correct and successfully and constructively avoid / solve problems with tenacity and positivity.
