We are seeking a commercially-driven and entrepreneurial Trading Originator to help with growing our UK power, gas and environmental product activity.

This role is focused on identifying, developing and executing profitable market opportunities across wholesale and customer-facing energy markets. We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, finding creative solutions and getting deals done.

The ideal candidate will be naturally curious about energy markets, proactive in developing new opportunities and excited by the challenge of building commercial relationships in a fast-moving trading environment.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Identify, originate and execute profitable opportunities across UK power, gas and environmental markets
  • Build and maintain relationships with a broad network of market participants including suppliers, traders, brokers, generators, aggregators and corporate customers
  • Develop new trading relationships and uncover non-standard opportunities across physical and environmental markets
  • Negotiate and execute a broad range of agreements including PPAs, GPAs, GOs/REGOs and wholesale trading transactions
  • Take ownership of transactions from initial discussion through execution, onboarding and ongoing relationship management
  • Work closely with traders and the wider commercial team to develop and execute new products and market opportunities
  • Support the growth of BGS’s environmental products and structured trading activity
  • Monitor market developments, pricing trends, policy changes and regulatory developments relevant to the business
  • Ensure transactions are executed in line with internal risk, compliance and operational procedures
  • Contribute actively to the commercial growth and development of the trading business
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including trading, operations, legal, risk and settlements teams to facilitate successful deal execution

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
